Welcome to the Certified Hotel Asset Manager (CHAM) Certification Testing Site.

Your qualifications must have been approved, and you must have paid the CHAM examination fee, in order to take this on-line exam. You have been sent a User name and Password to enter your exam. If your User name and/or Password do not work or if you have any questions, please email ktindell@hsmai.org or call Kathy Tindell, at 703-506-2010 (between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday - Friday).

The exam will be open for 4 hours (240 minutes). There are 200 questions randomly chosen for each exam from a large bank of questions broken down among the following 6 sections:

Section 1: The Asset Management Process - 40 Questions (20% Weighting)

Section 2: Hotel Operations - 30 Questions (15% Weighting)

Section 3: Real Estate and the Physical Asset - 30 Questions (15% Weighting)

Section 4: Contracts and Legal Aspects - 40 Questions (20% Weighting)

Section 5: Financial Analysis and Benchmarking - 20 Questions (10% Weighting)

Section 6: The Investment Decision, and a Related Case Study - 40 Questions (20% Weighting)

You may postpone answering a question, but must complete all questions within a section before proceeding to the next section.  Once all questions within a section have been completed and you advance to the next section, it will not be possible to return to prior sections.

If you exit the exam before submitting your answers for grading, you will not be able to re-access the exam.

You must score at least 70% overall (140 correct answers) to pass for certification if you are taking the CHAM exam, and you must score at least 50% on each of the 6 individual sections.

After you have completed the exam, it will be automatically scored and you will be notified immediately whether you have passed or failed.

If you are taking the CHAM exam, you may need a financial calculator but you will also be able to use Excel for calculations during the exam if preferred.

Thank you, and good luck!
